How Much Does an Immigration Medical Exam Cost?

There is no separate USCIS filing fee for Form I-693 itself. The cost comes from the medical exam services set by the civil surgeon office.

That is why two offices can both offer immigration medical exams and still quote very different totals.

What usually makes up the total price

Many offices quote a base exam fee and then add charges for vaccines, lab work, or follow-up steps if you need them.

  • Base civil surgeon exam fee
  • Required lab testing ordered by the civil surgeon
  • Vaccines you still need at the time of the exam
  • Chest x-ray or radiology if the TB process requires it
  • Interpreter or translation help if you need it

Why one person may pay less than another

Someone with complete vaccine records and no follow-up testing may pay much less than someone who needs several vaccines or a chest x-ray.

That is why a single headline price rarely tells the whole story.

How to compare offices

Ask for the base fee and also ask what the office usually charges when vaccines, x-rays, or extra follow-up are needed. A low starting price can be misleading if most of the work is billed separately.

Common questions

Is there a USCIS filing fee for Form I-693?

No. The cost comes from the medical exam services provided by the civil surgeon office.

Why do some clinics quote one price and others a range?

Because the total often depends on missing vaccines, imaging, or other steps that are known only after the office reviews your records and history.

Can I lower the total cost?

Often yes. Bringing complete vaccine records, translated records when needed, and clear prior TB paperwork can help you avoid unnecessary repeat work.
